Making your wedding journey extra special
The Elise experience is so much more than simply trying on dresses in a shop and having to decide whether you have found ‘the one’. Unlike other wedding dress shops, we offer a tailor-made experience, taking our time to understand your taste, style and budget, before helping you create the perfect look.
Using our extensive expertise, we’ll guide you through the process, making suggestions and recommendations based on what you like. We have plenty of experience working with brides of all shapes and sizes, so you can be confident that you’re in good hands.
The entire service, from design to final fit, is all included within your initial quote, so you don’t have to worry about any surprise costs. If you do decide to make major changes, we’ll advise you in advance if it will affect the price. We’re also on-hand to answer any questions throughout the process.
How it works
Every bride’s journey is unique, but to give you an idea of what to expect, here are the key stages of our bespoke wedding dress service…
Your bespoke wedding dress consultation
When trying on wedding dresses for the first time, as many as nine out of ten brides discover that what they thought would be their perfect style, doesn’t suit them at all.
At your first appointment, you’ll get the chance to try on many different dresses to find out which silhouette suits you best. Then we look at the smaller details such as necklines and straps. We’ll talk through your ideas and draw inspiration from sites like Pinterest and Instagram to find the exact elements that will make up your design. You can also add those little extras like a veil or garter to match your dress.
Following this, we’ll show you a selection of fabrics and help you select the ones that are right for your chosen style while remaining within your budget.
Armed with all this information, Nicole will sketch your design so you can see how your dress is taking shape.
Once you are happy with the initial design, we’ll plan a production timetable, get your measurements and take a small deposit of £100.
Your tailor-made toile
Using your measurements, we’ll create personalised patterns and sew your toile together. The toile is made of cotton fabric and represents your basic silhouette – think of it as a mock-up of your final design.
At your toile fitting, we check the fit and make any necessary tweaks. This is also a chance for you to make any design changes, such as adding straps, changing the neckline or adjusting the train.
If you do make significant adjustments at this stage, we may ask you back for a second toile fitting before we start cutting into your chosen fabric.
Your dress takes shape
After finalising the toile, we create your actual dress from the fabrics you have chosen and invite you in for another fitting. This is where we ensure the fabrics are draping correctly and sitting in the right places.
For this fitting, we strongly advise that you wear the underwear you’re planning to wear on the day, as this will affect your final fit and comfort. This is a crucial stage to ensure there is no puckering, bulging or lack of support in key areas. We also suggest you bring your bridal shoes or wear shoes with the same size heel to make sure your dress is the right length.
Your finishing touches
We only add any lace or embellishments once we’re happy with the fit, so this final stage is where you see all the finishing touches come together.
Once you’re happy your bespoke wedding dress is complete, we’ll steam and bag it, ready for you to take away. Don’t worry, we always allow time for any last-minute alterations.

Wedding party outfits
As well as beautiful bespoke wedding dresses, we also create custom-made bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses and mother of the bride outfits. The process for designing these is similar and can be discussed at your initial consultation or at a separate meeting.
LGBTQ+ friendly
At Elise designs, we are proud to support the LGBTQ+ community and will create bespoke bridal wear for individuals of any orientation. Having bridal outfits that suit your individual styles, doesn’t mean compromising on how your outfits look when they come together. We can create two unique dresses, that complement each other perfectly, without either partner knowing what the other is wearing.
